Rogue · Dual-wield sword melee DPS

Combat Rogue

Sinister Strike spam, Blade Flurry cleaves, Adrenaline Rush burnouts.

Combat is the leveling spec that never runs out of gas: energy-efficient Sinister Strikes, finisher refunds, and burst cooldowns that turn every pack into a blur. It's the classic PvE rogue with Forever's unified hit/crit system smoothing your white swings into reliable damage.

The Forever beta caps at level 30 (beta ends Oct 21, 2026). This path is trimmed to what's reachable now; the full level 1–60 track, endgame chapters and raid prep return at launch on Nov 4, 2026. The A rating is BuildForge's own — Icy Veins' Forever tier lists are marked Coming Soon and Maxroll doesn't cover Forever.

  1. 1

[1–9] Stealth, Sinister Strike, and not dying

    0/4
    • StealthLevel 1

Pick your fights, skip the packs you don't want — the rogue leveling superpower.

    • Sinister StrikeLevel 1

Your main combo-point generator for the rest of the game.

    • EviscerateAs trained

Your finisher — spend 5 combo points, watch things die.

    • Backstab? Not yet—

Combat swords builds skip Backstab entirely — position-free damage wins for leveling.

  2. 10

[10–14] Open Combat with energy efficiency

    0/2
    • Improved Sinister StrikeRanks 1–2

Cuts the energy cost of your main generator — more strikes per bar, forever.

    • Improved EviscerateRanks 1–3

Direct finisher damage — every fifth button press hits harder.

Reward: Level 10: talent points begin — one per level, 51 total at 60.

  3. 15

    [15–19] Finisher economy

    0/2
    • RuthlessnessRanks 1–3

20% chance per finisher to add a free combo point — chains into nonstop Eviscerate.

    • Relentless Strikes1 point

Finishers refund energy — the single most efficient point in the tree.

  4. 20

[20–24] Hit consistency and weapon skill

    0/3
    • PrecisionRanks 1–5

Melee hit chance — misses are the silent DPS killer for dual-wielders.

    • Dual WieldTrainer at 20

Second weapon swings = more combo points, more procs, more everything.

    • Garrote/Ambush skip—

Combat swords doesn't need openers — Sinister Strike from stealth or range is fine.

  5. 25

    [25–29] 16-point capstone + weapon mastery

    0/2
    • Dual Wield SpecializationRanks 1–5 (start)

Off-hand damage ramps from trash-tier to real — this is where dual-wield damage doubles.

    • 16-point capstoneReserved

Forever's new one-point ability at 16 Combat points — verify its tuned effect in the beta calculator.

Reward: Level ~25: your 16th Combat point unlocks Forever's new capstone ability.

  6. 30

[30] Blade Flurry — the cleave identity

    0/3
    • Blade Flurry1 point

20% attack speed for 15s AND your swings hit a second target — pack-clearing and burst in one button.

    • Riposte1 point

Free high-damage strike whenever your dodge procs — dungeon tank-save and energy-cheap damage.

    • Weapon switchSlow main hand

Sinister Strike scales off weapon damage — a slow sword with a big range hits harder per energy spent.

Stat weights

What to chase on every item

  1. 1

    Attack Power / Agility

Agility gives crit AND attack power — rogue's double-duty stat.

  2. 2

    Hit (unified)

Dual-wield misses are brutal; Forever's unified hit makes it one easy stat.

  3. 3

    Crit

Feeds burst windows and finisher tempo.

  4. 4

    Weapon Skill

Less per item in Forever but still trims boss-level glances.

  5. 5

    Stamina

Uptime is damage; dead rogues do zero.

Button order

Your action bar

Follow top to bottom — earlier steps take precedence over later ones.

Pull

  1. Step 1: Stealth approach; open with Sinister Strike (or cheap Cheap Shot for control).
  2. Step 2: Blade Flurry when the pack has two or more targets.

Standard rotation

  1. Step 1: Sinister Strike to 5 combo points — always keep energy above ~20 for reactions.
  2. Step 2: Eviscerate at 5 — with Ruthlessness/Relentless Strikes the loop feeds itself.
  3. Step 3: Riposte whenever your dodge procs — free damage, no energy cost.

Burst / Execute

  1. Step 1: Adrenaline Rush on hard packs or burn windows — spam Sinister Strike with the doubled regen.
  2. Step 2: Eviscerate finisher as the target drops below 20%.
  3. Step 3: Vanilla-style threat awareness: let the tank build 2-3 seconds before unloading bursts.

Zero guessing

Watch-outs

The mistakes that cost levels, kills and raid slots — flagged before you make them.

  • Don't spend energy below ~20 — leaves you no room for Riposte or an emergency Evasion.

  • Slow main hand, fast off-hand. A fast main-hand sword murders your Sinister Strike efficiency.

  • Forever unified hit/crit: old rogue hit tables (17% dual-wield era math) don't apply — use the linked calculator.

  • Weapon skill is weaker per item now but still reduces glances on bosses — keep swords current.

  • Camp buffs don't stack with matching class buffs — don't overlap your camp food with raid-elixir equivalents.

  • No flying mounts — blade-flurry sprint routes and zone planning matter for the dungeon circuit.

  • Raids open December 9 — no rush; the nine new dungeons gear you on the way.
